Distinguished Australian winemaker Peter Leske has teamed up with a group of wine trade veterans to help create One Chain Vineyards, the culmination of over fifty years of collective experience in the industry. Using their many years of expertise and longstanding relationships with the best farmers, One Chain sources fruit from cooler climate vineyards north of the City of Adelaide in South Eastern Australia. “The Googly” Chardonnay is a charming example of modern Australian winemaking. Australia’s hot and dry climate requires extremely careful and precise irrigation in order to properly nourish the vines, allowing for just enough water for the fruit to ripen without overwatering the delicate root system of the vineyards. The grapes for this Chardonnay are harvested at night when temperatures are cooler, and the clusters are gently pressed as soon as they arrive at the winery. This prevents any bitter components from the skins to flavor the wine, leaving the clean, pure juice. Fermentation and aging take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine is bottled while it is still young to preserve the vibrancy of the wine’s aromas and flavors.

Well balanced, tangy, and vibrant, this Chard’s nose is dominated by the vivid aromatics of Valencia oranges and Meyer lemons. Full-bodied but fresh in the mouth, cantaloupe and pineapple fruit flavors lead to notes of apple and pear on the long-but-bright finish.
