Description

What do you get when you cross a team of two wine-trade veterans (both having passed the rigorous examination known as the Masters of Wine) with renowned Australian winemaker Peter Leske? One Chain Vineyards, a brand representing many years of passion and expertise. The Southeastern Australia growing region encompasses the vineyards north and west of the city of Adelaide. Shiraz thrives in the McLaren Vale sub-region, while Cabernet performs well in the soils of Coonawarra. “The Wrong ‘Un” is a classic Australian blend composed of 80% Shiraz (the Aussie name for Southern France’s Syrah grape) with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Meticulously controlled irrigation is a necessity in this warm and dry region, letting the winemaker guide the proper ripening of the grapevines. After a nighttime harvest the grapes are crushed and placed into specialized mechanical rotary fermenters at low temperatures, allowing for careful and perfectly precise extraction of tannins, color, and structure. Before bottling, fermentation finishes in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit.

Shiraz is known for its burly and spicy fruit profile, and this wine is no exception. Blueberry and blackberry mix with the dried red currant flavors of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Exotic secondary notes of licorice, black pepper, and eucalyptus add to the complexity and allow for a lingering, intense finish. Silky yet rich, its flavor can stand up to strong food pairings.
