Description
Just 40 miles north of Cape Town on the western edge of the South African coast, Swartland is a gorgeous winegrowing region. With vineyard sites in a multitude of locations and altitudes, all fruit receives sufficient coastal influences from the bordering Atlantic Ocean along with a hot, arid climate. This setting is truly idyllic and creates harvests that are typically lower in yield but berries with an incredibly high concentration of flavor. Our winemaking partners for the 2020 vintage of Ophidian Chenin Blanc have been making wine in the appellation since 1957 and are greatly admired for their craft. Fruit used in this wine was picked on the earlier side of harvest and showcases delicious stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors. With an approachable acidity and a beautifully rounded mouthfeel, this wine is balanced, incredibly easy-drinking, and perfect with a myriad of various dishes.
