Description
Orphan Barrel Entrapment is an 82 Proof (41% ABV) Canadian whisky produced as a limited release from the Crown Royal Distillery in Gimli, Manitoba. This 2017 expression utilizes a mash bill of 97% corn and 3% malted barley, representing a rare standalone bottling of a “base” whisky typically used for blending. The liquid was distilled in 1992 and matured for 25 years in the temperate climate of the Gimli warehouses on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.
This extensive aging in a cool environment allowed for a delicate maturation that avoids the over-oaked character often found in high-age spirits. The resulting profile is light and incredibly smooth, featuring initial notes of toasted oak and dried fruits that transition into a palate of creamy vanilla, toffee, and a hint of walnut with a clean, semi-dry finish.
