Orphan Barrel Indigo’s Hour is a 90 Proof (45% ABV) straight bourbon produced as a limited release by the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. This 2024 expression utilizes a high-rye mash bill of 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malted barley. The liquid was distilled in Indiana, matured for 18 years at the historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Kentucky, and finally bottled at Cascade Hollow in Tennessee.
Maturation in the Kentucky climate allowed for a delicate metamorphosis of the spirit, balancing the high rye content with nearly two decades of wood interaction. The resulting profile is sophisticated and approachable, featuring initial notes of creamy vanilla and toasted oak that transition into a palate of honey, red fruit, and warm baking spices with a velvety finish.
