Description
After downy mildew and extreme heat devastated the 2023 harvest—reducing yields to just 15% of normal—only the hardiest grapes survived at Panevino. Panevino Survivor Bianco 2023 is a field blend of indigenous Sardinian white varieties including Nuragus, Semidano, Vermentino, Vernaccia, Nasco, Malvasia, Retallada, and Tzaccaredda, harvested from old bush-trained vines at 700 meters elevation near Nurri. Gianfranco Manca ferments spontaneously in open wooden vats using native yeasts, with extended skin maceration before aging 12 months in older oak barrels. The wine sees no fining, filtration, or added sulfites.
