Description
From the Florentine hills of Scandicci, Podere Casaccia Sine Felle Chianti Riserva 2022 represents a traditional field blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Malvasia Nera sourced from 50- to 60-year-old vines farmed biodynamically. Roberto Moretti at Podere Casaccia harvests by hand and co-ferments all three varieties together using indigenous yeasts, beginning with a 48-hour cold maceration followed by 25 days of skin contact. The wine ages four years in French oak—a mix of 10-hectoliter botti and barriques—with bâtonnage sur lies for six months, then rests at least one year in bottle. No sulfites are added; no fining or filtration occurs. The terroir consists of equal parts clay, silt, and sand at 80 to 160 meters elevation with southeast exposure.
