Description
Podere Casaccia Sine Felle Priscus Sangiovese 2022 comes from the hills of Scandicci, just outside Florence in central Tuscany. Roberto Moretti farms old Sangiovese clones—some reaching 50 years of age—biodynamically on soils of clay, silt, and sand at 80-160 meters elevation. The grapes undergo a 48-hour cold maceration before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by 15-20 days on skins. Podere Casaccia then ages the wine six months in oak barrels with bâtonnage sur lies, bottling without fining, filtration, or added sulfites. These heritage clones produce wines lighter in color with softer tannins than modern Sangiovese selections.
