One of the oldest port houses, Quinta do Noval is also arguably the greatest. It is unique among top port houses in that most of the ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard. The nose offers Intense notes of violet, cassis, bilberry, dark chocolate, and a touch of eucalyptus, menthol, or leafy spice. The palate is Medium-bodied, intense, and elegant. It combines rich dark fruit—currant, fig, blackberry—with a solid, velvety, and well-balanced tannin structure. 19.5% ABV
