Description
Quintarelli Rosso Ca’ del Merlo 2018 is a Veneto IGT red wine produced by Giuseppe Quintarelli from a single vineyard in the hills of Negrar, Valpolicella Classico. The blend is approximately 55% Corvina and Corvinone, 30% Rondinella, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, with small additions of Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Sangiovese. Half the grapes are pressed immediately after harvest; the other half dry for two months via appassimento. The wine then undergoes a ripasso-style second fermentation on Amarone lees before spending seven years in large Slavonian oak botti. Quintarelli Rosso Ca’ del Merlo 2018 is bottled at 15% ABV from iron-rich limestone soils over a base of basaltic rock at approximately 500 meters above sea level.
