Description
Radikon Slatnik is an orange wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northeastern Italy, crafted from a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Friulano grapes. The vineyards are situated near the village of Slatnik, characterized by compressed clay and marl soils, which contribute to the wine’s distinctive minerality. The grapes are destemmed, crushed, and co-fermented with native yeasts in oak vats, without temperature control or added sulfur during fermentation. Maceration on the skins lasts 10 to 14 days, imparting the wine’s characteristic amber hue and enhancing its aromatic complexity. After gentle pressing, the wine is aged on its lees for a year in large 6,000-liter oak barrels, followed by bottling with minimal sulfur addition and without filtration. This meticulous process results in a wine that authentically expresses its terroir and the unique qualities of the grape varieties.
