Description
The Wagner family has a distinct winemaking style that people worldwide love, and any wine that runs through Caymus will have a bit of the house touch. This Red Schooner Mendoza Malbec is no exception. They call it an “iron fist in a velvet glove.” It has rich, fine tannins, a texture that mimics the dust in Mendoza. The character is refined, unique, and singular. It’s unfined and already showing a bit of sediment in the bottle, which represents the rich and natural concentration that is abundant in this wine.
Made from grapes that are grown in the valleys that lie in the foothills of the Andes mountains and then shipped chilled to Napa Valley, where they are produced using the same techniques as Caymus Cabernet. This journey keeps it from following standard labeling rules, and instead of a vintage, it is known by the voyage that the grapes traveled to California.
