Yet another vintage where Rocche Costamagna’s Alessandro Locatelli has done justice to this fabulous vineyard. If the 2017 overperformed, then this is its equal or possibly even better. The nose screams classic Nebbiolo – red cherries, a touch of balsamic and a lovely floral element too. The palate has silky, voluptuous fruit. The tannins are soft and integrated but present enough to remind you that we’re in Piedmont. As usual, loads of wine for the money. This really is delicious now but will keep for a long time.
