Founded in 1905, the Rotta winery lays claim to one of the oldest and most venerable winemaking traditions in California. To survive and thrive as long as it has, Rotta has had to adapt to the constantly changing laws, tastes, and technologies that have transformed the American wine industry throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. And even during Prohibition, when many other wineries were put out of business, the winemakers at Rotta found a way to keep pursuing their passion: producing sacramental wines for local churches.
The Rotta 2013 White Blend is the perfect example of what a hundred years of ingenuity and experimentation can add to a wine. Starting at the vineyard, the grapes were hand-sorted prior to pressing to ensure only the highest quality fruit was included in the wine. Following this the juice was fermented and aged in stainless steel to allow for a precise, controlled flavor.
Seamlessly melding the base of Sauvignon Blanc with crisp Chardonnay, these two varietals merge into an eminently drinkable blend. On the nose, a cascade of fruits abounds, with pineapple, banana, apple, and lime all contributing to its delicious aroma. In the mouth, acidic citrus flavors envelope the senses and leave you feeling refreshed at the end of a long day.
