Description
The Pacific Northwest is infamously known for being rainy and grey, but Washington State experiences warm sunny days much more frequently than one might assume. The state is home to multiple mountain ranges that provide a rain shadow effect for winegrowing regions and makes most of the vineyards planted there safe from the heavy influences of the Pacific Ocean. Washington is known for producing big, bold, and lush red wines, and this Malbec is no exception. The growing season in 2018 provided almost perfect conditions for growers, allowing fruit to develop the perfect balance between acidity and tannin. The structure of a Malbec is based on the acidity in the wine rather than the tannins which is a key factor in the varietal’s popularity. This wine is dark and brooding but approachable. It features dark fruit notes and a spiciness that will have you going back for another glass. Perfect to pair with flavorful red meat dishes off the grill or slow-braised.
