Our 2021 Viognier is fruit forward and lush with floral aromatics and sweet, tropical fruit flavors. While this intensely rich and fruity grape is most commonly associated with France, it has thrived in South African soils since 1989. Swartland offers a comfortable home for this variety, where it thrives among the region’s other top-producing crop, wheat. Our local winemaking partners come from a farming background and have since committed themselves to developing the immense grape-growing potential this region has to offer. The coastal climate provides a much-needed cooling influence to protect Viognier from losing its delicate acidity in warmer temperatures. This results in a perfect balance between flavor and structure, making this wine perfect for enjoying on its own or paired with a wide variety of flavorful dishes.
