Crisp, mineral textures and ripe stone fruit flavors are landmarks of this wine’s New World style. Washington’s Columbia Valley is nestled in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, creating an arid environment contrary to the Pacific Northwest’s wet reputation. Bright sunny days reveal the riper side of this popular varietal, while cool evenings slow the pace, preserving natural acidity. As grapes ripen slowly throughout a long summer, volcanic soils offer just the right amount of moisture and nutrients.
