Description
Campo di Mezzo showcases Tre Monti’s organic Sangiovese from the single Vigna della Quercia vineyard on Imola’s hillsides. Planted between 1995-2003 at 150 meters elevation, these vines grow in silty, medium-textured soils using the Geneva Double Curtain training system at 5,000 plants per hectare. After careful cluster thinning yields just 1.7kg per vine, September’s hand-harvested fruit undergoes 12-day maceration at 28-30°C in vitrified concrete tanks. This certified-organic wine ferments with controlled temperatures, completes malolactic fermentation, then ages several months in steel tanks. The result brilliantly marries Forlì’s powerful Sangiovese with western Romagna’s gentler “Sangiovese gentile” style.
