Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 17 Year Old is an 86.8 Proof (43.4% ABV) rare and highly sought-after straight bourbon produced at the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY. This limited 2015 debut of the Master’s Keep series features the distillery’s 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley mash bill, but underwent a unique maturation journey. Due to a lack of space in 1997, these barrels were moved to stone warehouses at the Old Taylor Distillery before returning to Wild Turkey’s wooden rickhouses.
The cooler temperatures of the stone walls slowed the aging process, allowing the spirit to reach 17 years without becoming overly tannic. The profile is characterized by a dense delivery of silk caramel, honeyed peach, and toasted almond that transitions into a long finish of creamy vanilla, seasoned oak, and a hint of spice.
