Vines planted in the Western Cape of South Africa experience a beautiful growing season in one of the most unique Southern Hemisphere appellations. Desert-like days allow the fruit to ripen while cooling winds coming off the Atlantic Ocean give time during the evenings for concentrated flavors and acidity to develop. Delicate varietals like Viognier that require both warm and cool temperatures to fully evolve love these conditions. Our 2020 Wisdom Point Viognier was created alongside the South African local Adama Wines and is a truly unique reflection of a varietal that is still relatively new to the region. The first Viognier grapes were planted in 1989 and still make up a small portion of the total grapes produced in South Africa to this day. As a majority black-owned and 30% women-owned organization, Adama Wines is trailblazing the industry through their innovative craft.
