Description
Früg Orange is a natural orange wine from Burgenland, Austria, crafted by winemaker Josef Wurzinger in collaboration with Jenny & François Selections. This cuvée blends 70% Grüner Veltliner and 30% Roter Traminer, sourced from certified organic vineyards in Tadten. The vines thrive in gravel, chalk, and sandy clay soils, contributing to the wine’s mineral character. The winemaking process involves spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with 70% of the grapes destemmed and 30% left whole cluster. The must undergoes an 8-day maceration period without crushing, allowing for gentle extraction of flavors and tannins. The free-run juice then completes malolactic fermentation and rests on its fine lees for four months before bottling, without filtration or fining, and with minimal sulfur addition.
