Description
This beautiful Shiraz is the product of ripe, dark fruit grown in the Golden State’s agreeable climate. Here, these small, thick-skinned grapes benefit from a long growing season. During this time, they absorb every ray this sun-soaked state offers them. California’s well-drained, rocky soils create difficult conditions for vines, which causes them to plunge their roots deep into the earth in search of water and nutrients. The struggle for basic necessities combined with the heat yields grapes with rich, prune-like fruit flavors and high sugar levels. These sugars contribute to a weighty, off-dry palate. Our winemakers introduce complexity and secondary characteristics with the use of light oak contact. Combining all these elements results in a savory, spicy Shiraz that reflects its well-suited terroir and knowledgeable winemaking.
