Old Forester 2009 Birthday Bourbon is the eighth annual release in the brand’s vintage-dated series, bottled at 97 proof (48.5% ABV) and distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley.
Aged 12 years in new charred American white oak barrels pulled from two distinct maturation locations: the 5th floor of Warehouse B and the 8th floor of Warehouse J. This was the first Birthday Bourbon release to draw from multiple warehouses on different floors, a selection approach that became more common in subsequent vintages.
