Woodford Reserve 2015 Distillery Series Frosty Four Wood Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 90.4 Proof by the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. Released in late 2015 as the third entry in the collection, this technical project represents a rescue and alteration of the brand’s 2012 Master’s Collection Four Wood expression. The original batch relied on the core 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley mash bill and was finished in Maple, Sherry, and Port casks.

However, record-breaking low temperatures during the 2013 winter caused heavy protein precipitation and a flocked, hazy appearance in the original Master’s Collection Four Wood bottles. To stabilize and clarify the liquid, the distillery subjected the mature bourbon to an intensive filtering process. This targeted filtering removed the flock without stripping the intricate wood sugars, isolating an exceptionally clean mouthfeel displaying dominant notes of dried cherry, maple syrup, toasted walnut, warm baking spice, and a dry oak finish.
