Old Forester 2017 Birthday Bourbon is the sixteenth annual release in the brand’s vintage-dated series, distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky on May 27, 2005 and aged 12 years in new charred American white oak barrels. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley.
Drawn from 120 barrels — 93 from the 4th floor of Warehouse G and 27 from the 5th floor of Warehouse K. Released in two proofs: the majority bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV), with a smaller lot at 95.4 proof (47.7% ABV) due to alcohol vapor loss during transfer from holding tank to bottling line. The 95.4 proof variant shipped to Florida, Georgia, and select Kentucky markets.
