The Four Roses 2022 Limited Edition Small Batch 109 Proof (54.5% ABV) is a non-chill filtered, barrel strength Kentucky straight bourbon produced at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY. This 15th annual release is a technical masterwork blending four distinct recipes aged 14 to 20 years. The blend is comprised of 20-year-old OBSV (35% rye, delicate fruit yeast), 15-year-old OESK (20% rye, baking spice yeast), 14-year-old OESV (20% rye, delicate fruit yeast), and 14-year-old OESF (20% rye, herbal yeast).
Matured in specialized single-story rackhouses, the high concentration of ultra-aged liquid highlights the “V” and “F” strains’ ability to maintain herbal and fruit integrity against heavy oak tannins. The resulting profile is defined by oxidized dark cherries and antique wood on the nose, transitioning to a palate of clove, allspice, and creamy vanilla. This release specifically marks the return of the rare “F” yeast strain to the Limited Edition series, providing a cooling mint and menthol ester finish that balances the 20-year-old wood influence.
