The 2023 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a 96 Proof (48% ABV) straight bourbon produced at the Brown-Forman Shively Distillery (DSP-KY-354). This vintage-dated release consists of 103 barrels distilled on May 5, 2011, and matured for 12 years on the 9th floor of heat-cycled Warehouse I. It follows the traditional mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley.
The specific high-floor maturation environment results in a concentrated profile of candied orange peel, Madagascar vanilla, and toasted almond, balanced by a long finish of cedar and dark chocolate with no chill filtration.
