Description
Colonel E.H. Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods is a 100 proof (50% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Released in July 2019, this expression is the tenth unique release in the E.H. Taylor lineup and the first to utilize amaranth as the secondary flavoring grain in place of traditional rye. The mash bill is a modified version of Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1, consisting of corn, malted barley, and amaranth.
Technical maturation for this one-time bottling exceeded ten years in federally bonded warehouses. The resulting profile is defined by technical notes of fresh spearmint and honey on the nose, with a palate of coffee, vanilla, and toasted pecans followed by a long finish of honey and light oak.
