The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru is stubborn and austere on the nose at the moment, red berry fruit and damp loam aromas/woodland scents gradually unfurling, hints of cepes. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit mixed with white pepper and sage. Classic in style, nicely focused, this builds in the mouth and exerts good grip on the finish with impressive length on the aftertaste. Great potential but will benefit from cellaring.

A vibrant red infused with blackberry, black currant, chocolate, sweet spices and a hint of orange peel. Settles into a chunky profile as this plays out on the finish. A bit rigid now, this should stretch out with a few more years of aging.
