Description
Heat plays a big factor in Roussillon winemaking. Unlike the cold and rainy vineyards of northernFrance, the south is marked by 300+ days of sunshine. This presents it’s own set of problems, so the farmers have innovated by growing their vines close to the ground where they only produce a moderate amount of grapes that ripen early. Every year in Paris the cafes and restaurants eagerly wait for the first wines of the season to arrive, and they are almost always from this region. The Heliograph Estates Grenache is juicy and full-bodied. This wine is powerful and a little spicy, with beautiful herbal undertones. The higher alcohol means it pairs best with cooked meats. Try it with stews and braises. Judges like it too! It took home a Silver at the 2018 Critics Challenge.
