Description
Izak’s 177 continues to offer quintessential expressions of South African wine. Our Grenache is upbeat and fruit forward with soft textures and a delightful hint of spice. It is uncertain how Grenache made its way to South African soils, but the most common theory credits James Busby — “the father of Australian wine” — for leaving cuttings in the Western Cape on his way to Australia. However it arrived, Grenache’s story in South African soils is one of success. This native European variety thrives in the dry conditions and warm climate of Swartland. Vineyards here can be found along the mountains and hillsides that make up this region’s diverse topography. Our local winemaking partners stay true to what this brand represents by showing a steadfast commitment to developing this region’s vast potential. Our Grenache is light and bright, well suited to grilled white meats or roasted vegetables. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.
