Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Tasters Selection No. 005 Barrel Reunion #2 Oatmeal Stout Barrel Finish is a highly innovative, limited-edition experimental allocation released in 2019. Selected by Master Taster Kevin Brent Smith, this expression highlights a cyclical “round trip” barrel program with a Middle Tennessee craft brewery. The distillery originally provided fresh, used Old No. 7 casks to the brewery to age an oatmeal stout; once emptied, those beer-soaked barrels were returned to Lynchburg to finish fully matured charcoal-mellowed Tennessee whiskey for at least 240 days.

This technical process arrested the traditional dry oak extraction, introducing a rich, creamy structural framework that accentuates the yeast’s natural esters into deep cooked-fruit and cherry pie notes. Bottled at 92 proof, the technical profile balances classic banana and brown sugar with unique undercurrents of dark chocolate, espresso beans, and roasted oats.
