Description
The Pays d’Oc region is classic Mediterranean—nestled at the bottom of Central France, vineyards in the area are regularly exposed to bright and hot sunny skies. Coupled with maritime winds from the Mediterranean Sea, fruit is given a near idyllic growing environment. Our Grenache is planted on rocky limestone soils, which are dense and frequently lacking nutrients, so winemakers must pay particular attention to properly pruning and ensuring the rows receive enough water during the growing season. The result of this labor-intensive babysitting is reflected in this beautiful wine. The 2019 growing season produced a smaller yield than usual, but the fruit picked showed beautifully concentrated flavors and round tannin structure. Pick happened early in the morning to keep fruit temperature low, and after harvest, the wine was left on the skin for 10 days to reduce over-extraction and maintain the bright red fruit aromas. This wine is textured, fruit-forward, full-bodied, and vibrant when sipped. A perfect pair for hearty meat dishes, this bottle will be gone before you know it!
