The Macallan A Night on Earth: The Journey 86 Proof (43% ABV) is a collaboration with Chinese mixed-media artist Nini Sum, designed to capture the sensorial experience of returning home for the New Year. This Highland Single Malt is defined by a unique multi-layered maturation process, utilizing a strategic marriage of first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels alongside both European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks.
The use of ex-bourbon barrels provides a vibrant citrus and creamy vanilla foundation, intended to represent the bright effervescence of city fireworks. The spirit’s profile is further deepened by the traditional Macallan dried fruit and toasted oak notes derived from the temperate maturation in Speyside’s dunnage warehouses. This second release in the limited-edition gifting series features innovative multi-layered packaging that reveals custom artwork as each box is opened.
