Description
Red Vinho Verde was once more common than white—until the 1970s, it dominated the region. Márcio Lopes Rubro 2024 revives this tradition with 100% Vinhão, the most planted red grape in Vinho Verde. Vinhão is a teinturier variety, meaning both skin and flesh carry pigment, yielding wines of deep, almost opaque color. Márcio Lopes farms organically on granitic soils and ferments with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel. The wine retains a gentle frizzante character—tiny delicate bubbles that dance on the tongue. Márcio Lopes Rubro arrives at 11% alcohol, true to the region’s light-bodied heritage.
