Description
With our Ultima wines we don’t mess around. The Ultima brand represents rare, carefully-crafted wines made with grapes from some of the finest vineyards worldwide. Often working alongside internationally renowned winemakers, we develop the wines using processes specific to the grapes; methodically extracting depth and flavor from the fruit. While everything about the wines, including grape varietal and region, might be different bottle to bottle, they all have one thing in common: once these incredible wines are gone, you won’t be able to get them again.
This California creation by Aurelio Montes, Chilean Winemaker of the Year, was awarded three Silver Medals – the 2016 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition’s $45 & Over category, the 2016 Los Angeles International Wine Challenge, and the 2016 New York International Wine Competition. It’s also an Editor’s Pick by both Ray Isle of Food & Wine and Ted Loos of Travel + Leisure. It hails from the Paso Robles wine region, the up-and-coming wine country adored by tastemakers. Located along California’s famed Central Coast, this area’s long growing season produces vibrant fruit with dynamic flavor profiles. A medium-bodied wine, the 2009 Ultima has an intense dark ruby color and a delicious mix of blueberry and cherry flavors. Potent and peppery, “a few years of cellar aging have softened the wine’s structure and opened up its spicy aromas,” says Ray Isle. The silky texture and long, satisfying finish make this one a must for any lover of well-balanced red blends.
