Description
Judges at the 2018 New York International Wine Competition loved the Cantharos Grenache enough to name Cantharos the French Grenache Winery of the Year and give it a Double Gold medal! Wine has been one of the pillars of culture for the entirety of recorded history. It is safe to say that the winemaking profession has changed more in the last few decades than it did in the preceding few millennia, but there are still some places that do things the old way. In southern France farmers are making wine as they have for centuries. The Romans spread grapes as they spread their empire, and the Cantharos Grenache is a hat-tip to this past. Full-bodied and juicy the wine is made from grapes that are grown on the low hillsides of the Pyrenees before they reach the sea. The environment leaves its mark on the nose of the wine in the form of herbs and spice, which makes it great for pairing with roasted meats.
