The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau 1er Cru has a very attractive floral bouquet with rose petal and iris scents, a touch of oyster shell merging with the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berries, a dash of white pepper and with a lively and supple, saline finish. Classic Chambolle-Musigny.

Romaine Taupenot’s 2020 la Combe d’Orveau is a fine, fine example of the vintage. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a refined blend of cassis, a touch of black raspberry, coffee bean, a lovely base of soil tones, woodsmoke, pigeon and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and vibrant, with a lovely core of fruit, fine lift and focus, ripe, buried tannins and a long, complex and tangy finish. Fine juice in the making.
