Description
Alessandro Viola Carricat Orange blends Carricante and Catarratto, two indigenous Sicilian varieties, from organically farmed vineyards near Alcamo in northwestern Sicily. The estate’s seven hectares span two distinct sites: clay soils at 200 meters elevation near the coast, and calcareous soils at higher altitudes around 400 meters. Alessandro Viola macerates the grapes on their skins for approximately 48 hours, imparting the wine’s amber hue and textural depth. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts follows, then six months of aging in fiberglass tanks. Bottled unfiltered without added sulfites, Carricat captures the saline, mineral character of Sicily’s Trapani coast.
