Description
Our triple award-winning Grenache Blanc from La Douleur Exquise in Pays d’Oc is truly spectacular. The 2019 vintage received 90 points and a Gold Medal from the 2020 Harvest Challenge, not to mention a Best of Class award from the Dan Berger’s 2020 International Wine & Cider Competition. The Pays d’Oc region is inland from the coastline in Southwest France. Just north of the Spanish border, the area experiences a moderate Mediterranean climate with hot, dry days and coastal influences thanks to the nearby Balearic Sea. Grenache Blanc, a grape primarily known for its role as a blender in the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend, thrives in the environment. When highlighted on its own, the varietal is fresh and bright. For this particular wine, our winemaking partners chose fruit that was low yield but highly concentrated. Grapes were picked in the early hours of the morning while temperatures were low and kept on the lees for just a week to build a bit of texture.
